You may wish to contact the Maine State Department of Health, Aging, and Social Services to request a list of licensed agencies, or check the yellow pages for  Home Care Agencies.

OR

Your doctor or hospital discharge planner is required to provide you with a list of all homecare agencies.

    WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A HOME CARE AGENCY?

1.    Is the agency certified by Medicare?

2.    Is the agency licensed by the State of Maine?

3.    Request literature from the Agency explaining their services, eligibility requirements, fees they charge, and funding sources.

4.    Does the agency provide all the services you need?

5.    Who supervises the quality of care the patients are receiving?  How often do they review the quality of care?

6.    Is there someone on-call after-hours?

7.    Ask for a description of what training their employee's have received.

8.    How does the agency maintain patient confidentiality?
